What can you do with the summertime blues?

Okay so your hot and sticky most of the time and you're tired of the same old routine. That means the crankies are comin' out in you and the people around you.

Here are some answers to your summertime blues...
Look beyond your self to the next person. Do a good deed for someone else or the community, it will take your mind off of those blues.

* Help the kids in the neighborhood create a lemonade stand. You can decorate signs and pitch in on the cost of the cups and lemonade. This gives you a lift and teaches the kids how to run a business. Appoint each child a duty, one can be responsible to take the money, one can be in charge of making the lemonade, a few are needed to hold up signs and bring in the customers. How can anyone say "No" to a cute little smile and a cup of cold lemonade?

* Have a bake sale and raise money for the kids in the community who need backpacks and school supplies. Get the mothers and kids involved. You will be teaching them how to bake and  be a benevolent person.

* The Trend for 2011 is to volunteer. With the economy still at a stand still, people need to take things into their own hands,  raising hope together. Have a community dance lesson on a Friday night (Look for dance lessons on You Tube). Download some High energy Country music and take it to your local church or community Elks, or Moose Lodge. There are venues, one just needs to ask! Charge a dollar or a donation and give the proceeds to a cause in your town.

* Babysit for a mom who is struggling to work and needs relief of paying a sitter. You can connect with needy moms through your local Family Services or Church. Post a sign "WILL BABYSIT" for free. Of course they will want to play it safe and get to know you a little first.

* Go shopping for an elderly person who is home bound. Everyone has a neighbor who needs this kind of help. If not shopping for them, take them with you. How 'bout stop for lunch and treat them to a sandwich.

* If you don't have time for shopping and lunch, offer to buy lunch for a needy person on the street or in the fast food restaurant. Even your most affluent towns have a few homeless people. Especially these days.

* Mow someones grass for them. Wait till the sun goes down, in this heat you could get in trouble if your not careful.

* Surprise your neighbor by taking out his garbage (who doesn't hate that job)? Unless they have a CuJO guard dog, then think of something else to do for them. Wash their car while your washing your own!

These activities of giving to the less fortunate and your community, brings joy and energy to their lives and your own. You will surely forget about the summertime blues.

A special hug to Helen and Stephanie for their hard work and loving energy, you gals ROCKED IT!

There is a shortage of jobs in this hard hit economy, but there is no shortage in the giving spirit.
